Hi, I’m HOlli!

A few years ago, I was trying to gather ingredients to make Jamaican stew peas and could not find scotch bonnets after visiting four grocery stores. So I started growing scotch bonnets in my garden in Germantown.

This year, my plant yielded more than 100 peppers, so I turned to hot sauce—especially fermented hot sauce—as a way to preserve the taste of the pepper. This is when Cozy Roots Kitchen began.

I’ve always loved to cook what I grow, especially when I can cook for my loved ones. So to be able to share something I made with an even bigger group of people is a dream come true.

All my sauces are named after people in my life who inspire me every day. Click on one of the sauces to learn more!

I try to grow and/or source as many of my ingredients that I can—season permitting—from local farms. I believe it’s super important to know where your food comes from. And it just tastes better.

I hope these sauces give you a hot-but-cozy feeling and inspire you to follow your passions. This is me following mine!
